Sunday Straphanger Pumpkins in NJ

Sometimes autumn can be hot, and it was deeply hot, though not humid on the day we stopped at this roadstand in New Jersey.  It was much bigger than a roadstand image comes to mind, with fresh pies, a place to get a drink, and lots of "Punkins" as the sign said.

Inflation has probably raised the price of these mini pumpkins since I took this photo.  Baskets of apples, colorful corn to decorate tables and doors, and dodging all the bees- fun times.

Never seen so many pumpkins in one spot. They look great and rich in colour. Do they taste as good as they look?

I don't even like to eat pumpkin pie, but it's fun to paint or carve and decorate a pumpkin. We sometimes went on a "hayride" to the pumpkin fields and picked our own pumpkins to take home, lots of fresh air and something nice to drink afterwards...

Hello and welcome to everyone and also to Mary and Shimmerlings!

Has there been a pumpkin shortage to raise the prices of them? I used to grow them in a garden, missed that. Will have to consider for next year.

In the stores around here a full size pumpkin costs $4.99-6.99! These little ones are just nice for table decoration and this photo is an old one, I just don't see the palm sized ones in the stores around here.

Hi Stacy and hi Lisa!

Beautiful photos--I know I am a little late in commenting on this one but I have been trying to subscribe to your blog feed & having the hardest time. Sigh. Anyway, I love pumpkins to carve & look at, but not to eat.
