I've Got My Eyes on You This St. Patrick's Day

It's about more than the potatoes, in any event, hope your St. Patrick's Day is a good one and don't worry about all the eyes on you, have a great day!  (Pun, yes I had to go there.)

Imagine these in a basket when you least expect, the first time it was scary, and after that, each time I just laughed. You can still cook and eat them, just break off the foot long icky things.  You could even use these as seed potatoes to grow your own crop.  Did you ever use a potato like this to grow your own?

Hey Gloria, Happy St. Patrick's Day ;o) Actually, my mom grows potatoes like this every year and they grow well in the garden ;o) Just to let you know, you are in Linda's giveaway and I am going to help her change her blog and I am going to delete linky. Most people's comments agree with what I am feeling ;o) Big Hugs ;o)

Hi Lucy, I used to think they weren't any good, but out of necessity I broke off the icky part and cooked them and no one was the wiser. Lesson learned.

Hey Stacy, you didn't have to do all that for Linda's giveaway, but thanks! I found her email after I left the comment on your blog, I am so used to not finding an email, but then, there it was. When I get some garden space cleared, I may just try and grow some of these potatoes, homegrown tomatoes were my specialty in NJ. The Linky has fallen, sad but you have to do what works for you. See you soon.

And a Happy St Paddy's Day to you as well, Gloria!

I'm always cutting up and planting my old potatoes that have sprouted "tentacles" ... I have a big ol' half barrel in the front & I just plop them in and wait .... Actually, potato foliage is really quite pretty!

Hi Debbie, RickiJill, and Karen Anne!

Tentacles, that's the word to use. It sounds easy, I like the idea of a barrel, no bending on my sore knees. I don't think I've ever seen potato foliage, now I want to.

Thanks for visiting everyone!
Happy St. Patty's Day!

haha! A bit freaky but i have stilled used my potatoes that have sprouted. Never planted one though but my kids would probably think that would be pretty fun to do!

Hey Cassidy! It was a little icky, but I just broke them off- they taste just fine after cooking, the potatoes not the icky bits. haha I would enjoy planting these, maybe later in the year. TFV!
