A Trim and a Cat Nap Who's That Sleeping on My Car?

I'm sitting here with about 5 less inches in hair length and some shape cut into it, and I cut it myself. It was time for a spruce up and letting go of the barrettes I use most days to keep the hair out of my eyes and off the back of my neck in the heat and humidity all summer long.

Kathryn Morris of, "Cold Case" and other programs said she cuts her own hair and so did Angela Lansbury - two opposites in style.  Plus after watching Nick cut so many heads of hair on, "What Not to Wear"  I gave it a go a few years ago and have since been cutting my own hair.  I used to spend a fortune at the hair salon and not always been happy, so now I do the job myself, if I could find someone great in these parts, I'd probably give them a try, but this suits me for now.

I saw this little visitor on the car, just taking a nap in the sun.  It's a good thing Lucy didn't know, she does not like cats.   I took the photo through the window screen so as not to disturb it.  It wasn't a cold day and the car hadn't been used. Husband said he's seen the cat around, so it's not homeless, good thing.

Hi Stacy, it only took courage the first time! This morning I see I need to cut even more, it must be a birthday thing, getting older, more daring, and hey it's saving me a bundle of cash, too!

I cut my own hair too, and The Big F's (hubby) AND the dog!!! Once a year I take the girls (14 & 17) to the hair dresser for a trim both of them have long hair (almost waist length, and if your hair is longer and isn't cut in a style, a little trim for dry ends is the go (and a shampoo massage & blow-dry) after all it's not too often so we go the whole hog ;) Love pussy, looks well fed so he's probably just likes a change of scenery every now & then ;)

Good for you! I also cut my own hair. It's long, it's curly and it doesn't really matter if it's cut evenly or not. I go to the salon once every six months to get a "proper" trimming. Color it at home. We are the creative "do it yourselfers" yes we are.
Sweet kitty. Looks warm in the sunshine.

Hi Shelle and Amber, wow, didn't realize we are part of a secret society and we all cut our own hair. It started out long and it's now just to the neckline and layered, only a little more finessing and then it'll be done, until the next time!

Hi Katherine, it does look pretty good, I think I've gotten braver over the years!

I'm like you! i used to spend a fortune in hair salon! especially when i have a long hair and very curly so i wanted layers and boy that costs alot! but i guess not being able to afford more visits to hair salon forced me to do it myself, not fancy i must admit, just trim the bangs/fringe and trim the ends for split hairs, i still dont dare to cut it straight though hence my hair grows even longer but i think soon i'll have to the drastic measure, try to cut it shorter than just trim the ends....the sleeping cat is so adorable!! btw thanks for the birthday wishes...happy sunday! x susan

Hi Susan, there's loads of you tube videos of hair cutting, some scary, must admit. Your hubby could trim the part you can't reach in the back for you, he could probably do it nice and straight. Another way to get the back evenly cut is stand bent at the waist with your head parallel to the floor and cut the ends of your hair, it really works.
